Have you looked at your Dental Plan recently? Would you like to know if there is a better way?
Take a look at the examples below of Direct Reimbursement Dental Plans (DRP). Not only will a DRP save your company money, but we think that the simplicity of the plan and the speed of the claims processing will be what you and your employees find to be the most attractive asset of the DRP. Example #1 This example is an actual company in the northern Indiana area and has been a SERCO client since July of 1996. Average enrollment in the Plan is about 115 employees per month with approximately 50 being single and 65 family. Schedule of Benefits is as follows: |
Preventive and diagnostic Type I - 100% with no deductible |
Minor restorative Type II - 75% with a $50.00 deductible |
Major restorative Type III - 50% with a $50.00 deductible |
Maximum Annual Benefit for Type I-III is $1,000.00 per person per year. |
Orthodontic Procedures Type IV - 50% with a lifetime benefit of $1,000.00 |
For a group this size an insurance premium of $102,360.00 would have been paid for the year (based on a conservative premium of $40.00 single and $100.00 family per month). Obviously they didn't pay a premium because they had a DRP instead, therefore the total that was paid for the DRP (claims and administration fees) in 2005 came to $60,941.32 for a savings of 43%.
Example #2:
This example is of a manufacturing company in north central Indiana and has been a SERCO client since May of 1992. They have an average enrollment in the Plan of 50 employees per month with approximately 50% being single and 50% family. Schedule of Benefits is as follows:
Preventive and diagnostic Type I - 100% with no deductible |
Minor restorative Type II - 80% with a $50.00 deductible |
Major restorative Type III- 50% with a $50.00 deductible |
Maximum Annual Benefit is $1,000.00 per person per year. |

How does direct reimbursement work?
DRP's work much like reimbursement for employee expense accounts. In fact, administration is as easy as A-B-C: |
Employee and/or covered dependents receive treatment from a dentist of their choice. |
The employee pays the dentist's bill and has the dentist's office file the claim with SERCO as they would with any insurance company. |
The employee is reimbursed according to the plan design that you choose to meet your company's needs. |
There are no monthly insurance premiums—so you pay only when your employees actually visit the dentist. As much as 90-95% of your benefit dollar goes to actual dental care and employees are free to choose any dentist they like, including their current one. |
